Episode 38: Should a Christian Practice the Sabbath?

Jun 20, 2026    Matt Rummage, Andrew Patrick, Noah Estes

In this episode of Redefined, we tackle the question: Should a Christian practice the Sabbath?

When most of us think about rest today, we think about taking a vacation, sleeping in, or spending a day relaxing at home. While those things may provide physical rest, is that the kind of rest the Bible is talking about when it speaks of the Sabbath?

Together, we explore the biblical purpose of the Sabbath and trace its significance throughout Scripture. We discuss how the Sabbath was never meant to be the ultimate goal, but rather a sign pointing to something greater. The Sabbath was a weekly rehearsal of a future promise—that one day God would give His people the same kind of rest that He Himself enjoys: rest based on finished work.

Ultimately, we see that Jesus is the fulfillment of the Sabbath. Through the New Covenant, believers are invited into a deeper, permanent rest—not found in a day on the calendar, but in the finished work of Christ on our behalf.

Join us as we redefine rest and discover what it truly means to rest in Jesus.
