3.1.26 Sermon Devotionals
Tuesday, March 3rd
Day 1: The Spirit Exalts Jesus
Reading: John 14:15-26; 1 Corinthians 12:1-3
Devotional: The primary work of the Holy Spirit is to exalt Jesus as the Christ. Paul makes this clear: no one can genuinely confess Jesus as Lord except by the Holy Spirit. This isn't merely about pronouncing words—it's about allegiance, surrender, and authentic devotion. The Spirit doesn't draw attention to Himself but always points us to the Savior.
As you evaluate your spiritual life today, ask yourself: Is Jesus truly at the center? When the Spirit is genuinely at work, Jesus becomes more magnificent, not our experiences or accomplishments. Any ministry, gift, or gathering that doesn't magnify Christ as Lord and Messiah isn't operating under the Spirit's influence.
Reflection: What in your life currently competes with Jesus for the spotlight? How can you surrender those things today?

Day 2: Grace Gifts, Not Earned Rewards
Reading: Ephesians 2:8-10; Romans 12:3-8; 1 Corinthians 12:4-6
Devotional: Spiritual gifts are "charismata"—grace gifts. You cannot buy them, earn them through education, or achieve them through personal holiness. They flow from the same source: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit working in perfect unity.
This truth should humble us completely. There's nothing to boast about when everything comes from God's grace. The gifts aren't rewards for the spiritually elite; they're supernatural endowments given according to His will, not our worthiness. The best we bring to God is a broken vessel, and miraculously, He chooses to work through us anyway.
Stop striving to be "worthy enough" for God to use you. Instead, simply make yourself available as a willing vessel.
Reflection: Have you been trying to earn God's favor? How does understanding gifts as grace change your perspective?

Day 3: Given to Each One
Reading: 1 Corinthians 12:7-11; 1 Peter 4:10-11
Devotional: "The manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one." Read that again—each one. No believer is excluded from the Spirit's work. No Christian should ever think, "God can't use me." If you're saved and filled with the Spirit, God has equipped you to contribute to His body.
The Spirit distributes gifts differently to create unity, not division. Like puzzle pieces, we're shaped uniquely so we fit together perfectly, creating a beautiful representation of God's family. Your difference isn't a deficit, it's divine design.
God hasn't overlooked you. He's gifted you specifically for the building up of His church. The question isn't whether you're gifted, but whether you're willing.
Reflection: What lies have you believed about your value to God's kingdom? How is God calling you to serve?

Day 4: For the Profit of All
Reading: 1 Corinthians 12:7; 14:1-5, 12, 26; Ephesians 4:11-16
Devotional: Spiritual gifts aren't about personal status, emotional experiences, or building a reputation. Their purpose is corporate edification, building up the body of Christ. Seven times in 1 Corinthians 14, Paul emphasizes edification of the church. The common good, not private benefit, is the goal.
When you make an investment, you expect profit. God has invested His Spirit in you, and the profit He seeks is a mature, unified church that reflects Christ's nature. Every gift, every manifestation of the Spirit, should strengthen fellow believers, point them to Jesus, and equip them to love the world.
Ask yourself: Are my spiritual activities building others up, or am I seeking personal experiences and recognition?
Reflection: How can you use your gifts this week specifically to edify someone else in the body?

Day 5: A Willing Vessel
Reading: Isaiah 6:1-8; 2 Timothy 2:20-21; 1 Corinthians 12:11
Devotional: The Spirit distributes gifts "as He wills", not as you desire. You don't get to determine how God uses you. Your responsibility is simply to show up every day ready and willing. Like Isaiah, your response should be, "Here am I; send me."
God doesn't need perfect vessels; He uses broken ones surrendered to His purposes. Stop shutting the door on the Spirit's work because it makes you uncomfortable or seems confusing. Don't let fear or misunderstanding keep you from experiencing the fullness of life in Christ.
What is your reputation regarding the Holy Spirit's work? Are you a willing vessel, ready to carry whatever grace, life, or spiritual gift God desires to flow through you to bless others?
Reflection: Pray today: "Lord, make me a willing vessel. Work in and through me as You desire for Your glory."
