our beliefs

the bible

We believe the Holy Bible was written by men and divinely inspired by God. It is God’s revelation of Himself to man. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter. Therefore, all Scripture is totally true and trustworthy. It is the final authority for all manners of faith, conduct, and doctrinal truths.

Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, who was born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, and in His substitutionary death on the cross, made provision for the redemption of man from sin. He was raised from the dead with a glorified body and appeared to His disciples as the person who was with them before His crucifixion. He ascended into heaven and is now exalted at the right hand of God where He is the One Mediator, fully God, fully man, in whose Person is effected the reconciliation between God and man.

salvation

We believe all have sinned and are in need of redemption which is received by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, His death, burial, and resurrection. Salvation is a gift of God and is not a result of our good works. We believe that repentance and faith are inseperable experiences of grace. Repentance is a commitment to turn away from sin in every area of our life and faith is the acceptance of Jesus Christ and commitment to follow Him fully as Lord and Savior.

family

We believe God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society. Marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime. It is God’s unique gift to reveal the union between Christ and His church. The husband and wife are of equal worth before God, since both are created in God’s image. Children, from the moment of conception, are a blessing and heritage from the Lord.

second coming

We believe, God, in His own time and in His own way, will bring the world to its appropriate end. According to His promise, Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly in glory to the earth and will establish His Kingdom. The dead will be raised, and Christ will judge all men in righteousness.

GOD

We believe there is one, and only one, living and true God. He is an intelligent, spiritual, and personal Being, Creator, Redeemer, Preserver, and Ruler of the universe. God is all powerful and all knowing. God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit with distinct personal attributes but without division of nature, essence, or being.

Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, fully divine. He inspired holy men of old to write the Scriptures. Through illumination, He enables men to understand truth. He exalts Christ. He convicts men of sin, God’s  righteousness, and of judgment. He cultivates Christian character, comforts believers, and bestows the spiritual gifts by which they serve God through His church. He seals the believer unto the day of final redemption.

the church

We believe the church is the Body of Christ, of which Christ is the head. This includes all of the redeemed of all the ages, believers from every tribe, tongue, people, and nation. Every person who is born of the Spirit is an integral part of the church as a member of the body of believers.

baptism

We believe that baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer’s faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Savior; the believer’s death to sin; the burial of the old life; and the resurrection to walk in the newness of life.
